Lead Powerful Discussions -- Outdoors or In
Lead Powerful Discussion -- Outdoors or In. Online/Zoom $14.99
Audience: Non-formal Environmental Educators, pk-12 teachers, scout and other youth leaders.
We can all remember a conversation that has transformed our thinking and learning--perhaps changing us forever. Place-based learning offers meaningful opportunities for these productive conversations. How do we, as educators, make discussion an integral and intentional, rather than happenstance, part of our instruction? How can we create and facilitate discussions for powerful learning? In what ways can we use discussion for culturally-responsive teaching both outdoors and in?
Join us for an online immersion experience as we consider how discussions can promote deeper reasoning, increase the memory of learners, and help to reveal understandings. Learn how to support social skill development, create opportunities for mutual respect through sharing and exploring ideas and build collaborative relationships among learners in any setting.
As a bonus, we will explore the use of live web cams and photos for virtual and blended learning as catalysts for meaningful place-based learning in students' backyards and near nature. Tools, tips, and resources will be shared.
This workshop contains all new material that complements Inquiry Outdoors, Questions That Matter--Outdoors and In, and other workshops offered by FIELD Edventures.
